When Advanced Warfare dropped in 2014, it took Call of Duty in a new direction. Snappy lateral dashes, and an emphasis on verticality remapped the series' DNA for years to come. But – as with anything – fatigue set in. Players longed for simpler gameplay, and a return to more traditional movement.

Call of Duty: WWII Review

World Phwoar II.

Mature portrayal of WWII; Boots on the ground combat; Stripped-down; back-to-basics COD

QTEs are outdated

Call of Duty: WWII

Three years ago, Call of Duty saw a drastic change in tempo and atmosphere. Sledgehammer Games took us from the tactical, much slower pace seen in Ghosts to a game that seemed to be inspired by Halo, with jetpacks and considerably more verticality in Advanced Warfare.

Call of Duty: WWII Review

It's that time of the year where videogame companies release their "best-selling" games for the Holiday period in a bid to claim sales glory over the year. And it just wouldn't be the same without Call of Duty's annual entry.

Call of Duty: WWII Review – A Gritty Return to Real Warfare

When's the last time fans have been genuinely satisfied with a Call of Duty game? When you really think about that question, it is a difficult one to answer. Sure, we all have our favorites but there's no way 2016's Infinite Warfare could be on many lists.

Riveting single-player story; Stunning cut-scene; No boost jumping; Headquarters a slick social hub; Zombies mode is creepy good

Single player too short; No real groundbreaking innovation; Still a Call of Duty game

"The eyes of the world are upon you" – Call of Duty WWII Review

With a campaign that brings some of the most historical battles of the European Theater to life like never before, multiplayer that combines the best of the old and the new, and one of the most visceral Zombies games the series has had, Call of Duty WWII is a triumphant return to its roots,...

World War II setting is a natural fit for the franchise; Health pack system in the campaign encourages more deliberate gameplay style; Multiplayer is the best it's been in years; Objective-based assault/defend multiplayer mode War is a standout for the series

Lead protagonist in campaign is a bit of a cliche; Would be nice to see more of the campaign's game mechanics show up in multiplayer

Activision Call of Duty: WWII - PS4 COD WW2 PS4 review

Call of Duty: WW2 is an impressive feat. Sledgehammer games could have failed at many junctures to deliver upon expectations. This Call of Duty is supposed to be a return to form. It’s meant to renew older players’ faith that the series hasn’t abandoned its roots.

Game is great, but poster was folded into squares.

Game is great, we are a fan. The poster was not so great, it is made out of a thicker card paper (which is good) but this was folded into squares making this useless for using as a poster as is was left with serious fold creases. This really should have been rolled up, we had ordered a bulk amount and everything came in an extremely large box so there was no excuse to fold this.
