This WIFI adapter is being used on a desktop computer that is in another room from the access router. This is a much cheaper alternative to running a cable through the ceiling and walls. The adapter works very well for my purposes.

It loses power and disconnects a few seconds after being plugged in or at best within a few minutes. What a waste of money.
Works perfectly under windows and with the help of Asus was able to get it going on Linux Mint where it works even better than on windows. A first class product even if it is a little expensive compared to others.
i went through several lower priced options tenda trendnet tplink dlink all of which are hit or miss..spotty coverage ..huge drops in connection speed..but if you want a rock solid wifi adapter with great range and stable connection spend the extra money and get this one
Went from 5MB D/L to 30 MB D/L. I had a 150 N PCI adapter that was really slow. I stream movies from my PC to Apple TV and the adapter that I had did not/was not designed for that type of use.
Very fast

The Asus USB-AC53 is a USB wireless adaptor that provides significantly higher speeds at range than standard Wi-Fi receivers.
The Asus USB-AC53 provided significantly higher speeds at range than our test 802.11n laptop adaptor. The included clip to attach it to your laptop screen is well designed and makes this adaptor much more practical when moving your laptop around.
I haven't had the chance to use this with a wireless AC router yet, so I can't comment on how fast it can go, but overall it's a solid and simple piece of hardware that does its job well.
Strong & fast wireless connection; simple to use
Doesn't always come back to life properly when resuming from sleep mode
I can find nothing that has helped on the Asus help/forums.
When the nic is first connected, the speeds are great for the 5GHz; It stops there...
When this device is plugged in, no matter if the port is USB 2.0 or 3.0, the device will either stop working altogether or cause all other USB devices to stop functioning as well; In order for it to work, I have to unplug, then plug in the adapter several times a day.
Not as advertised... (on the box) I should have reviewed the product here first. Only tested on a Mac. My Rating is based on the parts that worked.
If you're looking for an 802.11.ac adapter with Mac Support ignore the print on the box; "Mac Support"
