This is a neat, professional device. As other reviewers have mentioned, the shiny case is a thumb/fingerprint magnet, but don't let this put you off. It's fast, works well with USB2 as well as USB3, and registering the product gives you access to some useful value-added software.

This is one of the best memory storage device I've used so far. Bought this one when it was 6000 and got this delivered in a day. I also have a 2 TB Seagate External Hard Disk. But this is smaller and more precise for portable HDD. Using this from past 6 month.

I suspect some sort of power-saving spin down mode. But that is only a guess on my part. A Seagate backup plus works fine with the Tablo.

Inexpensive for a 2TB USB drive

I tried to use this for video storage with a TabloTV; Initially it worked OK; The Tablo detected the drive and formatted; But after scheduling several back to back recordings all the recordings failed

Simple plug and play with no unusual requirements. I have not used it with USB 3.0, but it works very well the USB 2.0 ports on my Windows 7 laptop and desktop.
