Fabulous lens. From beginner to advance this lens should be in everyone's camera bag!!! This lens is on my camera all the time. The zoom is great, and for everyday photos this lens is for all occasions.

I have three lenses in this range, the Canon 70-200 f4 IS, the Canon 70-300IS and this. The Canon non-L lens and Tamron are more or less identical for sharpness with a tiny victory for the Canon, although it's more expensive.

Very good value, lens barrel nice and wide for easy gripping, good stabilisation, although does jar in the viewfinder when it comes on, fairly sharp at 70-200mm; Good warranty

Average to poor sharpness between 200-300mm, turns the opposite way from Canon lenses; Makes an odd click/crunch on mounting; I wouldn't want to get it wet

Tamron SP 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC USD review

Gary Wolstenholme takes a look at Tamron's first lens to include both an Ultrasonic focusing motor and Vibration Compensation.

Very good optical performance; Good build quality; Ultrasonic drive; Effective vibration compensation system; Focusing a little slower than other silent focusing systems I've used

Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC USD SP AF

A surprising good lens, did read many reviews in order to choose between nikon 70-300 and this one , in the end the Tamron was best in most of the reviews. So bought one. (nikon was $ 713 that's $ 300 more !

Sharp; light; accurate autofocus ; inexpensive

noise; distortion

Still great, even after 1 year

I saw Tamron has more rebates out right now. Got my first one on rebate...this makes it enticing to look at more toys...

Just chiming in as others have said--spectacular value; I bought this from Newegg over a year ago Along with a Canon T2i), and it is still performing flawlessly; It is a joy to use; The Image Stabilization (IS) is truly as good as everyone says it is.

It wasn't free

So good i bought it twice

Bought this lens a while ago, my daughter doing a Natural History degree at Falmouth - 'forgot' to give it back when she went back after summer holiday as she needed to have a long reach lens for the course in her bag at all times.

Great Picture Quality; Lightweight; Simple Controls

I am a happy customer. I expected this one to be a very ordinary low budget lens. But its image quality surprised me and I loved the images even though I have used Canon 70-200 L series. Its not weather proof as the L series.

Must buy for amateur photographers

I am using this product for more than 5 months. Quality of photos ,it gives you are great. Even in 300 mm it can give you sharp images. Image stabilization feature in this lens is very helpful. Not best in low lights but overall a great lens in this price.

Excellent lens at a reasonable price.

I really took a long time to purchase this lens. It was a mixed feelings on going for a third party lens for my Nikon D3100. The reviews of this lens and that of Nikon helped me on concentrating mainly on the VC of Tamron against the VR of Nikon, the price of Nikon 70-300mm VR 4.5 -5.6 vs the price...
