Unlike the somewhat basic affair that is the Tamron AF 70-300mm Macro, the new Tamron SP 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC USD has all the latest bells and whistles, or at least their high-tech, optical equivalents.

I bought this for my new D7000. pictures are very sharp even at 300mm and very great bokeh effect. I was considering the nikkor 70-300mm. But I am glad that I bought this. I borrowed the nikkor 70-300mm from my friend and compared this and nikkor. GO TAMRON.
I saw Tamron has more rebates out right now. Got my first one on rebate...this makes it enticing to look at more toys...
Just chiming in as others have said--spectacular value; I bought this from Newegg over a year ago Along with a Canon T2i), and it is still performing flawlessly; It is a joy to use; The Image Stabilization (IS) is truly as good as everyone says it is.
It wasn't free
The Tamron SP AF 70-300mm F/4-5,6 Di VC USD (for Canon Digital SLR) Lens is carefully constructed with 17 elements in 12 different groups to give you perfect pictures. The size and weight is not much, which makes it convenient to carry around. Overall, it is a good buy at the price.
This is my first and only Tamron Lens. Excellent construction and price also very good warranty. I will research additional lenses from Tamron. Highly recommended.
Consistent Output; Durable; Fast / accurate auto-focus; Nice Bokeh; Strong Construction

The Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 SP DI VC USD features both Low Dispersion (LD) and Extra Low Dispersion (XLD) lens elements to help correct chromatic aberration and is also fitted with an Ultrasonic Silent Drive (USD) motor, as well as Tamron's Vibration Compensation (VC) mechanism to reduce the effects...
The lens handles very well, the only thing that lets it down is the CA, esp at telephoto, need to stop down to f8 to reduce it. Despite the CA still prefer it over the Canon version just due to build quality and handling, have owned both.
Quiet fast AF FTM Excellent stabiliser Sharp up to 300
Chromatic Abberation especially wide open Struggles to focus accurately in low light
Fabulous lens. From beginner to advance this lens should be in everyone's camera bag!!! This lens is on my camera all the time. The zoom is great, and for everyday photos this lens is for all occasions.
