PlayStation Pulse 3D Wireless Headset PS5 Review – One piece of tech we didn’t get the chance to look at when the PS5 launched was Sony’s shiny new Pulse 3D Wireless Headset. Well, after praising Returnal ‘s 3D Audio in my review , Sony offered us up a headset to check out ourselves.
A solid, appealingly priced wireless headset
Surprisingly good sound; Compatible with PC and Nintendo Switch; Relatively low price;
Controls can be confusing; Mic isn’t very good; Battery life is a tad below average;
The simplest and swiftest way to embrace PS5's new Tempest 3D AudioTech
Potential of Tempest 3D AudioTech; Easy to use; Very comfortable
Not a true standout in a sea of gaming headsets; Built-in microphone could be better
Sony's Pulse 3D Wireless Headset has a couple of caveats, including flat mic performance and the lack of Bluetooth connectivity, but the 3D Audio performance is exemplary. It is so cleverly designed to match the PS5 in looks and talents that it doesn't really play well with other devices, but that's the point really. This is unapologetically a PlayStation headset for the latest PlayStation console, and in that is one of the best value propositions around.
Great audio quality - especially with 3D Audio; Good bass response; Comfortable design and isolating earcups;
Mic performance is flat and tinny; No Bluetooth connectivity (USB dongle only);

The Pulse 3D is Sony's take on a PS5 wireless gaming headset. It sports a stylish design and satisfying audio, but it eschews a quality boom microphone in favor of a pinhole mic.
Strong sound; with good bass; Works with PS5; PS4; PC; and Mac; Stylish design
Pinhole microphone doesn't sound as good as a boom mic; Slightly weak in the higher frequencies; Uncomfortable fit for people with large ears
Sony didn’t just release the PlayStation 5 last November. It also rolled out PS5 accessories, including a media remote, a camera (presumably for PlayStation VR), and a headset. The Pulse 3D is Sony’s new, first-party PS5 wireless gaming headset, a sleek-looking set of headphones that carries a $99.99 price tag. The Pulse 3D sounds quite good, with plenty of bass, and it uses the PS5’s surround sound mixing well. Unfortunately, its pinhole microphone can’t compete with a proper boom mic.PS5 Design The Pulse 3D headset looks distinctly Sony, with a black-and-while design that compliments the PS5. The earcups are circular with matte black plastic, connected by a curving headband that’s white on the outside and black on the inside. The headband features a springy, padded suspension that automatically fits most head sizes, and the faux leather-covered earpads are nicely cushioned. However, I found that the circular earpads pinched my ears a bit; be wary if you have big ears. All contro...

The Sony Pulse 3D Wireless Headset is a straightforward gaming headset for the company's next generation console. It works well on PlayStation 5—not necessarily better than any other compatible headset—and not very well on other platforms. At least it matches the console's color scheme.
Stylish; Lightweight; Good sound
Uncomfortable for big heads and ears; Poor isolation; Bad microphone
The Sony PULSE 3D Headset is adequate for wireless gaming. Using its wireless USB receiver, it transmits audio without too much disruptive audio latency on PCs and PlayStation consoles.
Low wireless audio latency; Good stereo imaging capability.
Few sound customization features; Mediocre microphone noise handling performance.
