I use this now on my A77 and my results have been great with extremely clear photos that makes my 35mm pale in comparison. This lens is very well built and has a very high quality grip around the lens. Simply a must have!

This is a super lens with awesome light gathering and great Bokeh from the round (as opposed to hex) aperture. This lens extends capabilities way beyond the usual 3.5 or 2.8 of other lenses.
Easily Interchangeable; Fast / accurate auto-focus; Nice Bokeh
The Sony 50mm f/1.4 is the smallest and lightest of the 50mm lenses on test, and it has a very neat, uncluttered design. It's also got the best set of depth of field markers, covering f/4, f/8, f/16 and f/22. It's much less sophisticated to use, though.
Works as expected. A good lense.
The 50mm is perfect for anybody who thinks 85mm is too tight and the 35mm is too wide. The 50 was the focal length used by the most well-known street photographer of all time, Henri Cartier-Bresson. I think its a beautiful focal length. To me, it is the lens that has the most balance in photography.
This lens is not your ordinary small and lightweight 50mm. It is solid and heavy, but wow, the result is sharp, crisp focus. F1.4 is really beautiful when the subject is near you and the background melts into blur. Love it. I wish they also have 35mm version.
Creamy bokeh, solid construction. As good as the legendary old Minolta 85mm f1.4. Colours are vivid and images sharp. Performance wide open is considerably better than Minolta 50mm f1.4 Much faster focusing silently. Everything is better with this lens. Is it worth it compared to Minolta 50mm
A great standard lens. It is very good as a portrait lens in smaller spaces where something like an 85 is too much. The 1.4 aperture can really melt the background. The lens is very sharp and also great for landscapes stopped down. Great sharpness from edge to edge.
1.4 aperture; sharp
Large and heavier than some standard 50mm lenses
Sony's older 50mm f1.4 lens was really a rebadged Minolta, and the company has been overdue on creating their very own version for the system. Earlier this year, they announced it. And Sony's new 50mm f1.4 is really as glorious as we thought it would be to start with.
