If you're looking for a Sony FE lens around the 50mm focal length that has a wide aperture, but don't want to break the bank, then this is a solid investment. I managed to get some really decent shots with great shallow depth of field at f/1.8.

As an economical way to get a "nifty fifty", the average Sony user probably won't complain about the Sony FE 50mm ƒ/1.8: at $250, it's one of Sony's least expensive lenses, though compared to other manufacturers, there is still a premium price.
This lens has been a long time coming for full-frame E-mount cameras, and it certainly makes a welcome addition to Sony's lens line-up if you're in the market for a fast, well-priced standard prime that offers excellent image quality.

The new Sony FE 50mm F1.4 ZA is impressive. Our friend Roger Cicala over at LensRentals notes its central sharpness performance to exceed even the venerable Zeiss Otus , as well as the Sigma 50mm Art. He even found it to out-perform the 55/1.8 centrally, but fall behind it peripherally.

This is much better then the kit lens in sharpness and details. I would buy it again.
The f1.8 lets in a lot of light; That makes the lens very fast to focus in normal light; Great for portraits and flower shoots with tight depth of field; Very sharp lens; In manual focus on the a6000 it is unbelievable focus control on Zoom
