I bought this lens despite the reviews. All I can say is that on my A7R sharpness is good and provided you stay within 26-60mm I see very little difference between F4 and F8 in the corners. At the 2 extremes there is some blur in the corners so they are best avaided
Small; quite light; very well built and sharp
F4..
One area of the lens line-up that we've been patiently waiting for the manufacturer to address is the absence of zoom lenses capable of shooting faster than f/4, and up until recently, photographers wishing to couple faster zooms to an Alpha 7-series body have needed an adapter to use either Sony's...
Is the Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM the standard zoom lens Alpha 7-series users have been waiting for? Michael Topham finds out
In its infancy, the Sony Alpha 7 series fell short of offering its users a wide range of lenses. As is often the case with any new camera system, it took time for the full-frame FE mount to establish itself, but now, a couple of years down the line from the launch of the original A7 and A7R, Sony...
The Sony G Master range is described as a "supreme blend of high resolution and beautiful bokeh" which will match current and even future trends with high resolution sensors. This is a very desirable combination of properties if it can be achieved, especially with such a useful, bright f/2.8...
Sony's FE 24-70mm f2.8 GM is a new standard zoom lens for its full-frame mirrorless cameras. The wide to short telephoto range and bright f2.8 focal ratio make it ideal for portraits and wedding photography, along with general-purpose use.
Even with IS this lens is not quick enough. A good street lens for sunny days, but not real useful after dusk. For the money I expect more. Unfortunately, Sony can't seem to master a fast variable focus lens. While their bodies are affordable the lenses are over priced.
I love this focal range but not this lens. I'm shooting at ISO's of 500 and 800 and I'm still getting noisy images, way more noise than I feel one should get at these ISO's. At this price I'm disappointed with it overall as it is not nearly as sharp as my ancient Nikkor 28-70 f/2.8 D lens which I...
The Carl Zeiss Vario Tessar T* FE 24-70mm f/4 OSS ZA didn't really convince us completely - not at this price point for sure. While it is a joy to use the lens thanks to its high quality finish and super smooth controls, the optical characteristics aren't quite as impressive.
