It's not easy making a slim compact camera that excels in low light. This usually requires a large sensor or a wide-aperture lens – ideally both – but both tend to result in a bulky camera.

Welcome to Mark II of the Sony Cyber-Shot RX100, a neat, surprising camera that could sit happily alongside an upper...
I've had the Mk2 for 1-2 months now & the photos seem to be of high quality but I have had problems with the AVCHD videos - there is a constant & irritating background noise on the audio, much like a distant helicopter or an old-fashioned film projector, which I have been told by Sony support to be...
Photo quality; build quality
AVCHD background noise; clunky menu interface
I've been using this camera for a few months. When I want great pictures without the need of a DSLR. This is a great addition to my DSLR full frame.
Affordable; excellent quality; Small; Superbe Filming Stability
Not As Much Fun To Shoot
My faithful carry and holiday camera came to its end and with a holiday quickly approaching I put my research head on. Lots to choose from re compacts but from the positive response from all and its manual features it was a no brainer.I have a full DSLR and all the lenses so this is for putting in...
Loads of features; Can adjust virtually everything; High quality images
Limited zoom
Stunning photo quality and a great all-rounder – and a price that's now a little easier to swallow
The RX100 II performs much the same as its RX100 predecessor, turning out some of the best image quality we've seen from a compact camera. With the addition of Wi-Fi connectivity and a BSI sensor, it's at the top of its class in terms of performance and features. With a few caveats regarding the shooting experience, it's a clear class-leader.
Available light photography, enthusiasts looking for a high-resolution lightweight compact.;
Budget-conscious shoppers, and anyone who really wants a viewfinder;
It's hard to review the RX100 II without calling out its predecessor/sibling model, and seeing as they're being sold simultaneously (at least for now) it may even be appropriate to offer some direct comparisons.
The compact advanced point and shoot (PnS) camera category is a space that is heating up, considering every major camera manufacturer – Sony, Olympus, Canon, Nikon, Panasonic, Fujifilm – has at least one of these in their kitty.
