On paper, Sony's $3,200 full-frame mirrorless Alpha A7R III is a beast. With an ultra-high-res 42.4-megapixel sensor that can shoot bursts at 10 fps, you can capture landscape photos one day and sports the next.

You need a lot of patience to review cameras. You also need some time, you need to be in a place that inspires you and you need good luck. Getting all these together is rare. In the two weeks I have had with the Sony Alpha 7R III, I have had a mix of one or two of the three, and a couple of rare...

Sony Alpha A7R III review: Mirrorless, but certainly not pointless

I upgraded from the A7Rii and wasn't sure it would be worth it at first. I'm really glad I did!!! First, the auto focus on this camera is so fast. Finally there is a high quality full frame mirrorless camera that can focus like a top end DSLR. Second, they improved the battery!!!

Pros:
  • The question is, what's not good The is basically the II on steroids
  • Sony has pumped it with major upgrades, plus a couple of new features you might find in the pro-level making it one of the most incredible, top performing cameras in the market today.
Cons:
  • If we must nitpick, there are a few things that could be better
  • The sensitivity is still at 50 (compared to competitor Nikon s 32), subject tracking could use a bit of work, and the rear tilt-angle display could be more utilitarian--its limited angles and touchscreen functionality might be...
