Preface I was looking to a wider addition to my TAMRON SP17-50/2.
Beautiful mechanics; Extremely low distortion
Very poor edge sharpness; Disaster corner sharpness; Vary poor performance against the light
Fabulous. It's like having a full frame camera now. If you shoot landscapes or architecture this lens is a must.
Lens- specifications landscape or wide a screen sigma 8 -- 16 mm suitable for my needs very hobby , basically get photographed , detail and clean the shooting lens- sigma this . Mugnkin would be much better if diagframa can wider than a series of these . Overall excellent.
This is a great lens and exceeded my expectations. It is V E R Y wide!
Durable; Easily Interchangeable; Fast / accurate auto-focus; Strong Construction
Heavy
This lens did give me good, sharp images- once I figured it out. I bought this primarily for real estate interiors and urbex photography. One of the very first things I noticed about this lens, was it gave dark images.
If you're in the market for a very wide angle zoom, this one is certainly worth considering. While there is distortion, that's to be expected with this type lens. The images it produces are, in a word, sharp. Its maximum f-stop tends to make shooting dim interiors difficult without a support
Consistent Output; Easily Interchangeable; Lightweight
Poor in Low Light
For the sole purpose of wide angle photography, the Sigma 8-16mm lens is the benchmark. The images are surprisingly sharp. An engineering marvel!
Funhouse of a lens for dramatic effect. Allows shots likely impossible with most other lenses. Not a low-light lens - don't even think about it. Unmatched for carshow, airshow, nature shots where wide is what you want. long end fairly sharp.
Wiiiiide; Great for confined spaces; Amazing perspective in right circumstance; Reasonably priced, considering; Long end fairly sharp
Easy to shoot your feet accidentally; Forget using it in low light; Distortion at periphery at 8mm but what would you expect Not FX; Funky lens cap thingie
The Sigma 8-16mm F4.5-5.6 DS HSM ($1,100 list) is a lens that either speaks directly to your soul or you find nearly impossible to use effectively. It's available for Sigma, Canon, Nikon, Sony/Minolta, and Pentax APS-C cameras , where it produces a field of view equivalent to 12-24mm in classic 35mm...
Very, very wide; One-of-a-kind lens
Extreme distortion on the wide end; Relatively slow aperture; Softer at wide angles
