I use it for almost everything. I love the depth of field. so far nothing I don't like about this lens
Manufacturer: Sigma

This is a great lens and exceeded my expectations. It is V E R Y wide!
Durable; Easily Interchangeable; Fast / accurate auto-focus; Strong Construction
Heavy
I was lacking a really short lens for Landscape ..... fisheyes don't hold it for me but a really short, sharp lens with good control of barreling does. This is probably the only lens out there that has all the above features in spades .....
I love the Tokina 11-16mm... Recently got a D800... So was investigating options. Tried the 12-24mm Sigma version II... I prefer the corner sharpness and image usability in the 8-16 shoot DX on the D800 over shooting the 12-24 FX on the D800... The 12-24 is going back to Adorama...
Wide, so very wide; Price is so very reasonable, Sharp, pretty sharp
Not FX ..; But good enough in DX even on FX
If you're in the market for a very wide angle zoom, this one is certainly worth considering. While there is distortion, that's to be expected with this type lens. The images it produces are, in a word, sharp. Its maximum f-stop tends to make shooting dim interiors difficult without a support
Consistent Output; Easily Interchangeable; Lightweight
Poor in Low Light
inspite of weakness on 8 mm with recommendation of this lens
very good sharpness at 12-16 up to the corners; If stopped down a few very nice pictures high contrast and beautiful colors
expensive; some CA's especially on 8 mm
This lens is a joy to use. I have taken some great photos with it. I have it's big brother, the 12-24 V2 and it is easily as good as that, if not better, but on a Canon crop it is equivalent to 13-26, not 12-24.I still don't understand why people on this forum give poor ratings to what is obviously...
Compact and light; fast to focus; razor sharp; image quality; build quality
None
Funhouse of a lens for dramatic effect. Allows shots likely impossible with most other lenses. Not a low-light lens - don't even think about it. Unmatched for carshow, airshow, nature shots where wide is what you want. long end fairly sharp.
Wiiiiide; Great for confined spaces; Amazing perspective in right circumstance; Reasonably priced, considering; Long end fairly sharp
Easy to shoot your feet accidentally; Forget using it in low light; Distortion at periphery at 8mm but what would you expect Not FX; Funky lens cap thingie
Fabulous. It's like having a full frame camera now. If you shoot landscapes or architecture this lens is a must.
With mounts for Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Sigma and Sony, the Sigma 8-16mm f/4.5-5.6 DC HSM is the widest APS-C optic on the market... It offers a full-frame equivalent focal length of 12-24mm and has a variable maximum aperture of f/4.5-5.6.
