I love the Tokina 11-16mm... Recently got a D800... So was investigating options. Tried the 12-24mm Sigma version II... I prefer the corner sharpness and image usability in the 8-16 shoot DX on the D800 over shooting the 12-24 FX on the D800... The 12-24 is going back to Adorama...
Wide, so very wide; Price is so very reasonable, Sharp, pretty sharp
Not FX ..; But good enough in DX even on FX
Very hard to correct chromatic aberrations, strange colors. Sharp. Tried on Canon 80d and returned after a couple of days. ( real estate photographer)
The lens is very sturdy and the image is great in day light. The images are very sharp but its not that great for night photography. If you are looking to buy this lens, I suggest you check out the real item or silmilar items because 8-16mm is really wide.
SUPER and I mean SUPER wide
Wight; Not great for night photography
Owning a Olympus E5 I have always wanted the Zuiko 7-14mm but the price was just to high. I have recently moved to Sony and picked up this lens for less than half the cost of the 7-14mm. With the crop factor it is actually 2mm wider than the Zuiko. The Sigma is a well made lens.
Build quality; Sharp; nice smooth focus ring; price
Can't use an ND grad; Can flare easily
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Color; Very little flare; Very Sharp
No Filter; Poor in Low Light; Slow aperture
good lens, excellent results.
Consistent Output; Durable; Easily Interchangeable; Fast / accurate auto-focus; Lightweight; Rugged
Never bought a Sigma before, and I had read that some of their wide-angle lenses felt a bit cheap. Pleased to say the 8-16mm looks and feels like the reasonably premium lens that it is. Nice and weighty, smooth focus and zoom rings, and a very snug fit to my A700 a-mount.All lenses are compromises.
Sharp Focus; Strong Construction
Slow Focus
This is my favourite lens without a shadow of a doubt. It's superb for landscapes and producing amazingly artistic photos from all manner of subjects. It's sharp as a knife and tough too.
I use it for almost everything. I love the depth of field. so far nothing I don't like about this lens
