Well, it took two tries to get a properly operating one. The first had serious issues; If I micro adjusted for shooting in the portrait range, it was way out at about 30 feet. If I micro adjusted for 30 feet, it was way out in portrait range.

Dreamy bokeh; sharp right from wide open

AF issues

Bought this lens for the great bokeh and sharpness. I tried it on Nikon D700 and quiet happy with a result. The glass is heavy and massive ,but the filling is right on.Fast and furious :)

good value, best 50th i have seen, good useable for studio and on location, you need a little time to focus, thearefore in use, when aperature must be wider than f4

great bokeh; sharp from f 1.4 onwards; good contrast; no problems wirth autofocus accuracy; speed similar to good macros

CA wide open; focus ring does not work smooth

Stunning

I bought this lens mainly for portrait photography. I like it better than the canon version. I checked the reviews and photo samples of this lens and I must say, it's true enough that it is a nice lens.

. I truly enjoyed shooting with that lens and if I was in the market for an 85mm prime, Sigma would get my money. An 85mm lens is great for portraits but I, like many other people, find 50mm to be a more useful focal length for everyday shooting.

Really nice! Presumably better than the Canon 50 1.4!

Amazing lens! I absolutely love it - everything from build quality, Bokeh, image quality, this lens absolutely shines!

Best for optics and price as long as you can get a good autofocusing copy

I was weary to buy this lens due to many review of the autofocusing not behaving. I bought 2 copies to hope that one would work with my camera. I noticed within the two copies that one was softer than the other. The autofocus is also not super at low light situations.
