I looove this lens. Every shot is amazing buuuuuuuuut the lens cap is literally a piece of shit that falls off with little to no effort. Be CAREFUL putting it in a bag or case cause 100% the lens cap will undo itself and just fall off. With that said it's worth the money.

Sigma AF 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM | A ("Art") (Nikon FX) - Review / Test Report

It seems that several manufacturers decided that the most natural focal length (which some call the "most boring one" instead) could need a little more excitement. This has lead to a bunch of new products in this area, but as before, most of them were quite expensive, like for example the new Nikkor...

I have multiple canon lenses most with L rating. Depending on usage this sigma art lens blows them all away. A few months ago I took the photographs for my daughters wedding using only this lens on full frame camera. Excellent results. It stays on one of my cameras all the time now.

Great product

Im glad that Sigma has started to support sony with there lens lineup. Definitely a lot faster than using an adapter but definitely not as fast as a native Sony lens. Now to some that might not matter as much as it all depends on your style.

SIGMA 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens for Nikon Mount - Optimized for Nikon Full-Frame DSLRs - (Aperture Range: f/1.4-16 , Filter Thread Diameter: 77mm, Hyper Sonic Motor - HSM)

Fantastic lens. Tack sharp and creamy bokeh. Nice solid feel to it. Use this with my Nikon D810 which requires the best glass. Recommend this lens. Thanks for having it in stock.

Goodbye Canon, hello Sigma!

Another fantastic performer. Sigma has been getting serious for some years now, and each and every Art series lens I have bought I have been most impressed with. Some years ago I told myself that I would never sell this or that genuine Canon L series lens in my extensive collection.

Inconsistent Auto Focus!

Had two bad copies so far, both inconsistent focusing especially at apertures from F1.4 to F2.8. Using a high quality, sturdy tripod, taking photos of the exact same thing will result in front focus in one, back focus in the next, and maybe one (or two if I'm really lucky) sharp one out of 5...

If you shoot a lot at wide apertures (1.4 to 2.8) no 50 can beat it. I\'m still amazed when I chimp my images. As an old Leica-M shooter, I have a style that relies on lenses in the 28mm to 75mm range. My basic lens is the 18-35 Art, and this 50 is my \"long\" lens.
Pros:
  • Unbelievably sharp, even wide open
  • Great colour
  • Good (not great) bokeh
  • Very well made, like all Art series lenses
  • Balances well on a D7100 with grip
Cons:
  • Can\'t use the outer focus points on Nikon D7100
  • Heavier than a Nikon 50/1.4
  • The temptation to use wide apertures close up will test your focus discipline
