Yes, this lens is worth $1,000. Here's why.
My reaction to every fast lens Sigma release seems to be "I can't believe something this good costs less than $1,000." A new favorite -- the 50mm f1.4 DG HSM -- joins Sigma's Art series of lenses, which already includes two of my all-time sub-$1K favorites, the 35mm f1.4 and 18-35mm f1.8 .- The Sigma 50mm f1.4 lens is a well-designed lens that performs very well for its price
- It would be nice if it had image stabilization
Sigma 50mm F1.4 DG HSM Art
Sigma turned more than a few heads when it hinted its 50mm F1.4 DG HSM Art ($949) lens was poised to perform in the same league as the Zeiss Otus 55/1,4 . Sigma's older 50mm F1.4 EX DC HSM was a good lens, but it lagged behind the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G in sharpness, especially at the edges...- Incredibly sharp
- Minimal distortion
- 15.7-inch close focus
- Available for several camera systems
- Big
- Depth of field scale isn't that useful
- No optical stabilization
- A little pricey
- Dim corners at wide apertures
Sigma 50mm F/1.4 Art Review: Great Glass That Punches Above Its Price
Sigma has been the darling of the lens world recently, producing high-performance products at reasonable prices. Its latest is the 50mm f/1.4 Art series lens, a long awaited addition to their line that we recently had the pleasure of trying out. You're not going to find much more lens for the price.
– Profoto B1 Air TTL: We recommend this light because of the fact that the TTL will help you to get the best resolution and acutance from the camera and lens combo in the quickest way.

While it's not cheap, the Sigma 50mm f1.4 lens provides great value for the money.- It would be nice if it had image stabilization
Sigma recently announced pricing on their newly redesigned and reengineered (and not-yet-released!) 50mm f/1.4 prime lens, which sits on their Art Line. Many photographers consider a 50mm prime to be their go-to, foundational lens size, so it was exciting being able to try out a lens that has...

Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM | A ("Art") - APS-C Format Review / Lens Test Report
Ooops ... they did it again! ;-) Sigma proved once more that they are no longer a company providing budget lenses but are playing in the top league indeed. The Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM | A (Art series) is a cream-on-the-cappuccino product - at least when used on APS-C DSLRs (well, *hint* it's not bad...
Sigma 50mm F1.4 DG HSM
The Sigma 50mm F1.4 DG HSM is a fast and tack-sharp lens, both in the centre and at the edges of the frame, with virutally no evidence of chromatic aberrations and very little distortion.
REVIEW: Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens Review
Sigma has added to their 'Art' range of fast aperture lenses with this new 50mm f/1.4 lens, which will be available to fit Canon, Nikon, Sony and Sigma SLR cameras. This lens costs around £850, which seems like an awful lot for a 50mm f/1.4 lens.
