Unfortunatley when I received the lens in the mail, the Autofocus wasn't working. It took gorgeous photos when in the manual setting but to spend $700 on a lens just to have the Autofocus not work is crappy. The company has other reviews of this happening so it could be a manufacturing issue.

Sigma 35mm f1.4 DG HSM
The 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM is Sigma's first large aperture 35mm full-frame lens. It was announced November 2012 and goes head-to-head against the equivalent offerings from Nikon, Canon and Sony.
Pros:
- Outstanding performance in the corners of a high-resolution full-frame sensor even wide open
- Good build quality
- Quiet and fast AF operation
- Relatively low price compared to the big names
Cons:
- Performance at the borders/corners of the DX/APS-C image circle could be better
- No weather sealing

Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM Review
I wouldn't buy a Sigma lens because I don't trust their lens' long-term viability (I demand that any lens I buy serve me for about 20 years), but if you can get over my personal problems, this consumer-grade Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM has the same superb optics as Nikon or Canon's professional lenses.

This lens is part of Sigma's Art line. A fast 35mm/f1.4 lens is an excellent tool for available-light photography indoors or at night outdoors, especially on the full 35mm-film frame (24×36mm sensor, which Nikon refers to as the FX format).

We're going to let you judge for yourself which lens is best for you. They're both excellent performers and can do a great job when used in conjunction with one another. But you're best off figuring out which focal length is better for you.

I recently ran into an issue with my beloved Canon 35mm 1.4 L lens. After many years of exceptional quality and loyal service, it started to back focus when photographing an object or subject from that was more than 3 meters away.
