The 30mm f/1.4 DC HSM Art is another solid entry in Sigma's prestige lens line-not the finest glass the company has to offer, but a marked improvement over the older (if cheaper) 30mm f/1.4.
The Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC HSM Art ($499) is a standard-angle prime lens for APS-C cameras . It's one of the rare SLR lenses in this focal range that's dedicated to that sensor format, and the only one with an f/1.4 aperture.
Compact; Opens to f/1.4; Very sharp when stopped down; 0.3-meter close focus; Sturdy build
Some edge softness at wide apertures; Modest barrel distortion; Lacks optical stabilization; Pricey
I just love it, my very best fix lens at this focal lenght, to cheap for what you get... needed calibration on D7100, but now it works perfect!!!
built like a tank; very high quality materials; thack sharp; mostly from 1,8..
none

"I purchased this lens to take on my this past week. I wanted to have a faster lens for indoor and low light shots than what I currently owned but didn't want to break the bank account either. I was more than pleased with my indoor shots from this lens, as well as my outdoor night shots.
One of best prime lenses in market
Not so sharp at f1.4, focus problem still remain, chromatic aberration. It is better than canon 50 f1.4 but price is so high.
Sharper than Canon 50 f1.4; nice build
Chromatic aberration; focus problem (font focus with me on Canon 600D); high price
The Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC HSM "Art" is a fast prime lens designed exclusively for APS-C DSLRs; it's of particular interest to us because its "normal" field of view corresponds roughly to that of a 50mm lens on a film camera.
Fast F1.4 maximum aperture; Convenient focal length on APS-C; Beautiful bokeh; Excellent center sharpness; Compact and easy to hold; Minimal vignetting at F2 and above; Resistant to flare and ghosting; 4-year warranty (USA; Very affordable
More distortion that we'd like to see in a premium prime; Purple fringing near edges/corners; Low contrast wide-open; Somewhat heavy given its size; Average corner sharpness; Not weather-sealed; Sluggish autofocus
I may complete a full Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC HSM Art Lens review in the future, but please use the standardized test results currently available for this lens.
Have had this lens for about a week now and it produces some amazing images on my Canon 60D.
