The Razer Basilisk Ultimate is a great mouse, but a tough sell at the current price.
The Razer Basilisk Ultimate is a great mouse, but a tough sell at the current price.
The Razer Basilisk's thumb clutch and unconventional shape are winners, but is it really a better FPS mouse than the DeathAdder Probably not.
Adjustable thumb "clutch" easier to use than any sniper button; Comfortable thumb rest area; PWM3389 sensor closely related to the familiar PWM3360
Unconventional shape might dissuade some; Scroll wheel resistance is adjustable; but hard to get set properly; Beta version of Razer Synapse is still...
Having previously given Razer's DeathAdder Elite KitGuru's ‘Must Have' award, you can bet I was excited to get hands-on with the company's latest mouse – the Basilisk. The Basilisk is an entirely different beast to the DeathAdder, however – and please excuse the pun.
Thumb rest is a good addition; DPI clutch is much more convenient than a standard sniper button; Adjustable scroll wheel; Flawless performance
Ergonomics are let down by the flat right-hand side; Software support for Razer products is currently split between two versions of Synapse; which is not only a bit confusing but means Chroma sync won't work across all devices
If you believe the marketing hype, this is the world's most advanced FPS gaming mouse. It probably says a lot about the level at which we play FPS games that we struggle to imagine how peripheral advancements might meaningfully enrich the experience, but Razer's armed its latest Basilisk with an...
I had previously been using the Logitech G500 and after years it finally died on me. I loved that mouse and all in all, this mouse is a pretty good replacement. It is missing the scroll lock/unlock feature of the Logitech G500, and this is all I miss about it.
Razer's Basilisk Essential scales down one of our favorite gaming mice while keeping most of its best features intact.
Comfortable shape for right-handed users; Removable "sniper mode" resolution-toggling paddle; Solid configuration software
Only lighting feature is hidden by hand during play; No left-handed variant; $20 price drop means lower-endurance switches
This no-frills Razer gaming mouse is ideal for those on a budget
Affordable price; Slick design; Multi-function paddle offers more versatility; Razer software enables a lot of customisation
Low sensitivity range; Bare-bones features
The Razer Basilisk boasts a comfortable feel, intuitive software and reasonable price, in addition to an innovative clutch that's a bit of an eyesore.
Comfortable design; Innovative clutch; Useful HyperShift feature; Handy thumb rest
Software still in beta; Not as attractive as other Razer mice
The best bits from Razer's tried and tested Basilisk in a slightly more money-conscious package.
The Razer Basilisk brings a sensitivity clutch to the Razer lineup of gaming mice to give you an extra edge in FPS games.
Sensitivity clutch; Customisable scroll wheel resistance; Impressive software support
Little expensive; High variance in optical sensor frame rate
