Great lens. If you need one all-rounder, this is it! 12@24 mm is great for wide end and 60@120 gives you a bit more edge compared to other basic-zooms. If you are running on tight budget, you should consider 14-54 f2.8-3.5 if the extra millimeters aren't your thing.

Great focal length IQ and contrast/color handling is well balanced with the focal length, but compared to 50-200, it feels a bit lame; Amazing all-rounder Weather sealing Well balanced with E-3 and E-5 Works almost as a macro lens, focuses almost to the front lens in 60mm Fast focusing Haven't...

A bit dark in the tele end A bit expensive Would need a bit more contrast/color capabilities compared to 50-200

In Search of Excellence

This by far is the most versatile workhorse in my stable of several SWD and Standard Zuiko lenses. For a professional wedding photographer this fast focusing lens with its wide focal range combined with a closeup distance down to 24cm at all focal lengths and low light ability is capable of covering...

Olympus 12-60mm f/2.8-4 ED SWD Zuiko Digital review by dda

I sold my Olympus gear and went over to the Nikon side - two things I miss however : my 12-60 and my 50-200. Both lenses were perfect ... If it wasn't for their SLRs, I would still be with Olympus. The lens quality is just ... awesome.

Sharp - extremely sharp / build quality

Fast auto focus with E5

When I upgraded to the E5 from the E 520 I decided to up grade to this lens for my son's wedding since I got drafted to be the photographer. I couldn't be more sttisified with the combo.

The reviews of this lens all rated it highly so I was reasonably confident that this would be better than the lens that was bundled with my ancient E-500 (as it should be for that price). It is noticeably better even through the viewfinder.

Improved low light shooting

I got this lens second hand from Adorama but would be hard pressed to tell it from new. It came with lens caps and hood and a belt mounted lens case I wash't expecting. This lens is as fast as all the reviews say and at f2.8 resolves the issues I was having with the Olympus kit lenses (14-42mm) not...

Best images of any zoom

The best combination of image quality, handling and focal length range of any zoom lens I have ever used. Although the 12-60 zoom is heavy the lighter and equally high quality 14-54 zoom does not possess the excellent range and handling of the larger lens.

Consistent Output; Durable; Easily Interchangeable; Quick Focus; Rugged; Sharp Focus; Strong Construction

Good value and performance beyond my expectations

It is a remarkably versital lens with impressive specifications. It performs beyond my expectations. I especially like wide-angle capability. Quality is great and price was very reasonable on e-Bay.
