Olympus M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 9-18mm F4.0-5.6 Lens - Brand New review

Slightly better cameras but otherwise, not much of an update - buy the iPhone 14 Pro or switch to Android instead

Better low-light photography, Slightly longer battery life, Action mode gives super stabilised video

The same performance as the iPhone 13, No Dynamic Island or Always-On display, 60Hz screen

REVIEW: Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 9-18mm f/4-5.6 Review

Handling and features This compact ultra-wide angle zoom lens for Micro Four Thirds system cameras offers a 2x zoom range equivalent to an 18-36mm lens on a 35mm camera. It costs around £450 and sports a collapsible design.

Overall the 9-18mm is a winner for me. Its combination of compact size, low price, and good image quality make it an excellent choice for urban cityscape as well as nature landscape photogrpahy.

Excellent range of focal lengths Compact design Lightweight Good image quality Reasonable price Functions well with the Olympus E-P1 (w/adapter) Balances well with the entire Olympus/Panasonic range of cameras

Slightly slow (faster maximum aperture would be nice for street photography) Focusing could be faster (SWD would be cool) Concerns about long term durability in the field (probably not an issue; and heavier duty construction might add substantial weight

Olympus 9-18mm f/4-5.6 ED M.Zuiko Digital review by iffo

Especially at the smaller focal lengths, the corner sharpness remains behind the centre sharpness. This lens, like the Olympus 45 mm 1.8, is an inexpensive lens that offers first class optical performance: a very high resolution, low distortion and low vignetting.

Compact and light weight High optical quality: high resolution; low weight and limited distortion Large viewing angle Low price

Visible chromatic aberration Construction feels cheap

With its ultra compact and lightweight design and the outstanding portability, thanks to the DSA (Dual Super Aspherical) lens, available only with the Four Thirds System, this lens will make super-wide-angle photography friendlier and more affordable. Despite its compact size

Olympus Zuiko Digital ED 9-18mm 1:4-5.6 review

High image quality - decently sharp from centre to corner even wide open; Extremely low distortion; Essentially no falloff/vigmetting; Small and lightweight;

Moderate chromatic aberration (although not excessive for an ultra-wide);

Olympus M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 9-18mm F4.0-5.6 Lens - BRAND NEW review

For its size, the Olympus 9-18mm ƒ/4-5.6 provides impressive performance. While there are other lenses which provide similar or better performance, none offer the diminutive size and storage functionality of the 9-18mm M.Zuiko.
