Nikon 85mm AF-S f/1.4G Lens All my reviews
I've never seen anything like it. Completely different sharpness and strong colours to my other Nikon lenses. I compared previous photos to my new shots. Did a set of Brisbane around Fortitude Valley, impromptu portrait shots when a neighbour came over with his daughter, portrait of guitar playing,...

If you ask yourself if you really need this lens... then you don't need it (maybe the D version instead).
Pros:
- Sharpness incredible stopped down and very good to great between f/1.4 and f/2.8
Cons:
- LoCA
- would need a bit more sharpness in the center wide open
- a bit plasticky feeling (but I can guarantee it won't give up as easily as genotypewriter thinks

Great Lens!
The 85 mm F1.8D lens is one of the Nikon bargains. (3X less costly) This lens is fast, fairly small, and it focuses quickly and accurately, nice bokeh and render good skin tones. It is bit soft at wide open but works great for portraits.

Nikon AF-S 85mm f/1.4G Review
There is no way of avoiding the fact that, at £1,500, this is a very expensive lens. Readers with smaller budgets may prefer to consider the £900 previous-generation (non-G) f/1.4 alternative, or even the sub-£400 f/1.8 version. However, if you have the money then this is a really stunning lens.
Pros:
- Solid MTF figures
Cons:
- Hefty price

Worth the upgrade cost from the 85mm D
I was hesitant to get this lens as I wasn't convinced that it would be worth the extra cost over the 85mm f 1.4D that I already own. After the first shooting session I was convinced!
Pros:
- Better edge-to-edge focus
- Consistent Output
- Fast / accurate auto-focus
- Nice Bokeh
- Quiet focus
- Silent Wave Motor
- Strong Construction
