Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4G Lens - Brand New review

This is a 50mm Nikkor prime lens with a maximum aperture of f1.4. Auto focusing is by Nikon's Silent Wave Motor and it works with the Nikon D40/60 range of cameras that are not fitted with in-body focus drives.

Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4G Lens - Brand New review

The AF-S Nikkor 50mm F1.4G was, at its introduction, hailed by Nikon as 'redefining the standard lens concept'. It turns out that in many ways that was no idle boast - in almost all respects the lens is clearly improved over its predecessor, the AF-Nikkor 50mm F1.4D .
Pros:
  • Extremely even image quality across the frame, even on FX, Improved image quality over 50mm F1.4D at large apertures, Exceptional image quality when stopped down, Essentially no lateral chromatic aberration, Near-silent AF-S focus with full-time manual override
Cons:
  • Slightly soft at large apertures, Somewhat susceptible to flare, Longitudinal (bokeh) chromatic aberration, most visible at large apertures, Vignetting at large apertures on full frame (essentially disappears by F2.8), Slower autofocus than the screw-drive AF-Nikkor 50mm F1.4D

Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4G Lens - Brand New review

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G is the latest update to the venerable Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D. The Nikon communality has been expecting this lens for quite some time now, considering that the previous version of the lens was introduced in 1995 and has not seen any updates since then.

Nikon 35mm f/1.4G AF-S Lens

While I hope to create a full Nikon 35mm f/1.4G AF-S Lens, my first priority is to include results from this lens in the lens comparison tools available on the site. This page currently exists because it is required by the database and content management systems for me to post information and...

The best 35mm lens out to date

This lens has the latest bells and whistles from Nikon's engineering department. I used it in very low light and found it to autofocus very accurately. The wider aspect versus the 50mm focal length allows for a more general use.
Pros:
  • Accurate AF
  • Flare resistant
  • Solid build
Cons:
  • Too expensive

My new favorite lens

Tact sharp and has excellent micro contrast. Definitely has better focus compared to 50mm f1.4G and 85mm f1.4G. Ive noticed CA in the highlights and minimal barrel distortion but not a big deal since it be corrected easy post.
Pros:
  • Durable
  • Fast / accurate auto-focus
  • Lightweight
  • Nice Bokeh

I think lens tip has either got a lemon for their test or the test wasn't done in a proper way (look at the samples wide open - that will tell you a lot...). I don't understand why they didn' t proof their results with a second sample. Very odd in my eyes and not very professional.
Pros:
  • Tack sharp and contrasty from 1.4 on
  • The lens renders the pictures in a very natural way
Cons:
  • A little bit expensive

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 35mm f/1.4G

Optically, the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 35mm f/1.4G is a stunningly good lens. Sharpness is remarkably high at f/1.4, and simply excellent from f/2 onwards. Lateral chromatic aberrations are kept to a minimum, and the fast lens' ability to separate the subject from the background is outstanding for a...
