great optics. fast focus. beautiful color. but it is heavy.
I have been pondering the addition of a lens in this zoom range for some time. I was tempted by the previous edition of this lens, but thought that Nikon would eventually bring out one with VR. Which they did, but initial pricing seemed a bit high.

This lens is one of the best out there. Highly recommended for any business that needs high quality images for any reason. We use it to show our customers what is on top of their roof. It has been fantastic for us.
Since its introduction in 2007, the AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8G ED has been the workhorse of many a professional photographer. But a compelling new option may have Nikon pros upgrading.
Optically stabilized design; Constant f/2.8 aperture; Quite sharp; Solid build

It took Nikon nine years to finally release an update to its popular workhorse standard zoom lens in the form of the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR, which gained a few new features compared to its predecessor, including the much desired image stabilization.
This new 24-70E VR is Nikon's sharpest professional midrange zoom ever. If you want the sharpest possible 24-70 lens, read no further; this is it.
