Surface Pro 3 review

Since Microsoft unveiled its first Surface Pro in 2012, it has been trying to push the line of devices to business users as the ultimate "all in one" machine. Specifically the firm claims that, when paired with a keyboard cover, the Surface Pro will be able to function equally well as both a tablet...

Clear display; good performance; wealth of productivity services; good battery life

Expensive by tablet standards; Type Cover costs an extra £110; stylus can lag

Surface Pro 3 Review: Microsoft FINALLY Got It RIGHT

Microsoft's Surface Pro 3 is a HUGE step in the right direction for Microsoft and an excellent poster boy for Windows

Beautiful display; Awesome handwriting recognition thanks to the Surface Pen and software; Great new 3:2 aspect ratio

At 5-6 hours usage for moderate tasks; the battery life on the Surface Pro 3 leaves something to be desired

Surface Pro 3 review: Everything you need to know

Microsoft combines the portability of a tablet with the raw power and input of a laptop. Despite its imperfections the Surface Pro 3 manages to live up to the claim of being a hybrid.

Superb screen; Excellent pen integration; Portable form factor; Good performance; Flexible kickstand

Type Cover not included; Windows scaling problems; Battery life isn't good enough; Difficult to repair

Microsoft Surface Pro 3

The Surface Pro 3 brings some very welcome improvements to the design of the previous model, with Microsoft retaining the tablet's high quality design while improving it in the places it needed most, namely the multi-angle kickstand, higher quality and bigger screen and, most of all, its much more...

Major design improvements; better battery life; more portable; bigger and better screen

Type Cover still feels substandard; The high price

Microsoft Surface Pro 3 Review

: The Surface Pro 3 is a much better substitute for a laptop than its predecessors thanks to its fantastic design and great spec.

Top design and great build quality; Fabulous screen; Speedy and powerful

Little choice of apps; Type Cover pricey; and disappointing trackpad; Lack of ports

The basics Microsoft claims the Surface Pro 3 is "the tablet that can replace your laptop". With a 12-inch screen, it's certainly big enough to back up that boast. But what are its other selling points? And it can it succeed where past Microsoft slates have failed? Let's take a look.

Given its size, you might expect the Surface Pro 3 to be a hulking beast of a machine, but it's actually surprisingly light; The Surface Pro 2 had a 10.6-inch screen and weighed 907g, whereas the 12-inch Pro 3 somehow manages to tip the scales at 800g.

It might be light, but 12 inches is still pretty large, so it's not all that portable; You're going to notice it in your bag; The MacBook Air is still slimmer and lighter, especially when you add the Pro 3's cover.

will replace your laptop and Tablet....

this is the next generation of laptop and means you can do away with your tablet. super fast, responsive to touch with no lag. only disappointment is that the keyboard is not included which at that price you would expect so budget for an additional 100 if you do want this to be a laptop or else it...

Microsoft Surface Pro 3

The Surface Pro 3, Microsoft's third hybrid tablet/laptop, brings with it several changes. The most noticeable upgrade is the display size. At 12 inches, it is 1.4 inches larger than its predecessor and sports a 2160x1440 resolution.

3:2 aspect ratio offers plenty of screen real estate; Generally smooth and quick performance; Thin and lightweight when compared to laptops

Loud and hot when playing games; Highly reflective display; Keyboard attachment sold separately

Surface Pro 3 - Is it really the tablet that can replace your laptop?

Follow @CyberShack The Surface Pro 3 has been one of my most anticipated devices of the year. While the Surface Pro and Surface Pro 2 had a lot of potential, there were a few issues that couldn't be overlooked.

Best example of a hybrid so far; Included Surface Pen is great; Display is stunning

Expensive for a tablet; TypeCover not included; Trackpad is average; Windows needs better touch optimisation

Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) review: Every bit the pro, but battery life is still a blow

Say hello to the Microsoft Surface 5. Ok, ok, so it's "the new Microsoft Surface Pro", rather than adopting the generational number format in its name. And that's quite possibly because this fifth-generation model looks suspiciously like its predecessor.

Refined design is its best yet; new keyboard (sold separately) makes for best typing experience yet; great screen resolution and brightness; plenty of power available - but fanless Core i5 is probably your best bet

Battery life still isn't great (not in the Core i7 model anyway - fanless Core i5 ought to be better in this regard); keyboard not included; can get mighty expensive - to the point a laptop might make more sense
