Huawei Mate 10 Pro review: software sadness

The Chinese company had hoped that this would be the year when it would finally be able to break into the US market and compete with Apple and Samsung. But days before it was due to make its big partnership announcement with AT&T, the deal fell apart due to pressure from the US government.

Great materials and build quality; Fast performance; Exceptional battery life

Awful software design; Frustrating software bugs; High price

Perfect for the price

I have used it only a week but am impressed with the features and battery life. Would definitely recommend if you are not attached to the main brands.

The Mate 10 Pro is a bit of a dark horse in the smartphone sector, and is one of the better phones that most people won't have easy access to. We say that because Huawei faces an uphill battle in the US market.

Premium design is as good as any other Android flagship; Lots of RAM (6GB) and onboard storage (128GB; Brg and bright display; Stellar camera performance; Long battery life

No expandable storage; EMUI skin won't appeal to users looking for a purer Android experience; Auto camera controls could be simplified; Not offered by any major wireless carriers in the US

Great phone

Amazing phone. I bought this phone about a week ago. Works great, looks good too. Really fast finger print scanner, great camera. Am loving this phone. The only problem that i faced so far was Bluetooth connectivity with wireless headphones.

Huawei Mate 10 Pro Review: A great phone jumping through hoops

Huawei has been making a lot of noise this year about its Android flagships, most recently making a pitch to oust the iPhone X or Galaxy S9 from your pocket with the P20 Pro. Weirdly, though, that phone isn't officially coming to the US.

Handsome; well-built design; Dual Leica cameras produce excellent photos; Battery life is incredible; Street pricing is competitive

No wireless charging or 3.5mm headphone jack; AI chipset is under-utilized; EMUI 8.0 is unnecessary; Screen resolution is short of rivals

A few months ago, Huawei passed Apple to become the second largest smartphone maker in the world, (Samsung's number one). Yet you don't see Huawei ads on TV in the United States, and its phones are seldom sold in any of the big carrier stores.

Great battery life; nice build; solid cameras (the AI modes are a bonus) AI smarts are hard to pin down; no headphone jack

AI smarts are hard to pin down; no headphone jack

Huawei Mate 10 Pro review

The Mate 10 Pro is the best phone from Huawei yet and although the cameras aren't as good as the Pixel 2 XL's, it has a better screen, better battery life and just as much processing power.

Huawei Mate 10 Pro review

Instead of marching in lockstep, the Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro will be chasing each other from one place to the next, quite unlikely to catch up except in a select few regions. It's not a parade then, it's a pursuit and therefore more exciting. So, which one would you pick ?

Huawei Mate 10 Pro review: say hello to two-day battery life

The Mate 10 Pro is the first Huawei smartphone that proves the Chinese firm can genuinely compete at the top end with Samsung and Apple. It's got a great camera, a good looking screen, a premium look and feel, a powerful processor and built-in artificial intelligence that should keep things running...

outstanding battery life; Android 8 Oreo; great performance; good dual camera; premium design; water resistance

no headphone socket; no microSD card slot; no wireless charging; screen not the highest resolution; no Bluetooth 5 support
