Huawei Mate 10 Pro Review

The Huawei Mate 10 Pro is Huawei's top of the range flagship smartphone, not only does it feature dual Leica f/1.6 cameras with colour and black and white sensors, but also features a top of the range processor, that includes a "Neural Processing Unit" designed to speed up "Artificial Intelligence"...

Fast and responsive; Large 6inch screen; Dual Leica f/1.6 cameras; 20mp black and white camera; Large 4000mAh battery; Plenty of storage and RAM

Lacks a headphone socket; Second camera doesn't feature OIS

Huawei Mate 10 Pro Review

Apple and Google may have machine learning, but Huawei has artificial intelligence. The Mate 10 Pro is the first phone with a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU), letting it run AI computations with greater efficiency than a CPU or GPU. Processing smarts aside, it also has a sleek glass body, an edge-to-edge display, and solid dual camera sensors, along with all the other premium features you'd expect on a high-end Android phone. At $649.99 it's a bit more affordable than the Samsung Galaxy S9+, but quite a bit more costly than Huawei's own View 10 and only available online and unlocked, making it a hard sell in the US market. Design, Features, and Display Glass is making a comeback. Unlike the aluminum Mate 9, the Mate 10 Pro ( at Amazon) features an all-glass body that curves along the back for a comfortable grip. There's a distinct reflective stripe that runs horizontally across the top of the phone where the camera is located. Color options include midnight blue, mocha bro...

The Huawei Mate 10 Pro is a powerful phone that uses a dedicated AI processor to improve camera capabilities and day-to-day performance.

Sleek design; Edge-to-edge screen; Dedicated AI processor; Solid dual cameras; Connects to bigger screen for desktop experience

Display can be sharper; Lacks Bluetooth 5.0; No headphone jack, microSD card slot, or wireless charging

Huawei Mate 10 Pro Smartphone Review

The Huawei Mate 10 Pro is a strong high-end smartphone, which is even fairly affordable compared to this year's competitors. The great FullView panel and the good display-to-surface ratio are compelling. With LTE Cat. 18 (max.

Huawei Mate 10 Pro

Huawei has pinned its hopes on the Mate 10 Pro as its flagship phone for the year. It was designed to be just as good as the Galaxy Note 8 ( $921.08 at Amazon.com ) . And with its huge display, powerful processor and cool camera, it gets pretty close.

The Mate 10 Pro is sleek and solid, very powerful and takes great photos in both colour and black and white; It's also water-resistant and battery life is superb

You can't expand the storage and there's no headphone jack; Its software extras are gimmicky

The device is impressive as soon as you take it out of the box and hold it in your hand. It has a head-turning design glossy curved back panel which merges seamlessly to the edges. There are two Leica lenses and a flash on the rear along with a fingerprint reader/home button directly underneath.

Huawei Mate 10 Pro review: A beautiful, big-screen bruiser

The Huawei Honor 10 is a speedy Android phone with a notch. Check out our review.

While it doesn't have all the Galaxy Note 8's features, the Mate 10 Pro earns its place in the high-end big-screen pack.

The Mate 10 Pro is sleek and solid, very powerful and takes great photos in both colour and black and white; It's also water-resistant and battery life is superb.

You can't expand the storage and there's no headphone jack; Its software extras are gimmicky.

Huawei Mate 10 Pro Review: A solid winter flagship that cribs from the best

Earlier this year, a groundbreaking new smartphone was announced. One that promised to combine an industry-leading camera, glossy design and artificial intelligence tech to change the way you interact with your smartphone in a real, meaningful way and help a global tech brand crack-and-tap the mainstream in the same way that Samsung and Apple do.

If you’re not swayed by Samsung’s return to form, Apple’s ultra-expensive iPhone X or Google’s funky Pixel 2, then the Huawei Mate 10 Pro is a pretty solid alternative.

Outstanding battery life; Exceptional camera;

Pretty conventional flagship form-factor; Lacks wireless charging;

Huawei Mate 10 Pro review

Instead of marching in lockstep, the Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro will be chasing each other from one place to the next, quite unlikely to catch up except in a select few regions. It's not a parade then, it's a pursuit and therefore more exciting. So, which one would you pick ?

Huawei Mate 10 Pro review: Addicted after just one week

I've been testing the Huawei Mate 10 Pro for a week now. While performance, battery life and software have been further improved, the camera in particular makes a big leap forward. Read more about this in our full review of the Mate 10 Pro.

Battery can last a weekend; Camera has excellent post-processing; Hardware performance is excellent; The sound is great; IP67; Dual SIM (Open Market version BLA-L29 only

There is no headphone jack socket; HDMI adapter for Easy Projection neither included nor available from Huawei; More fragile design than before
