Gran Turismo Sport Review

Gran Turismo Sport is the series' first outing four years. Was it worth the wait?

Some of the best visuals in any game to date; Reworked campaign mode actually teaches you how to race; esports-focused online mode encourages great racing; Some of the best sound design and editing in any game

Always online DRM can be a huge pain if your connection is spotty; Lots and lots and lots of missing cars; tracks; and features

Gran Turismo Sport

Gran Turismo Sport is a curious beast. While it will undoubtedly appeal to the millions of fans it has accrued since the series' inception in 1997, it's also very clear that in terms of evolution, Polyphony Digital isn't necessarily all that worried about taking steps forward.

A true driving simulator; Racing is better than ever; Each car is painfully unique; GT is finally on the PS4

Doesn't look great; Not a lot of content; Feels like a missed opportunity

As soon as you hear the first piano note you know you're about to watch the introduction video to yet another very delayed Gran Turismo game. With Kazunori Yamauchi still at the helm, the presentation is pure class as you see every picture perfect car drive by showing off the beautiful lighting...

PSVR support is superb; Solid 60FPS; even during replays; Great showcase for 4K and HDR on PS4 Pro; Big improvements in the sound department

Online connection required to progress in single player; The AI are still clueless; Where is Deep Forest; Trial Mountain and more; Campaign is light on content

PS4 Review - 'Gran Turismo Sport'

Buy Gran Turismo Sport If you only owned a PS3 and accepted nothing but Gran Turismo as your racing game of choice, you had to exhibit lots of patience. A proper entry in the series didn't arrive until Gran Turismo 5 in 2010, four years after the system's release.

In its need to please as large demographic as possible, GT Sport is unmistakably deep but oddly sparse compared to its illustrious predecessors. The game feels more like a prologue to the inevitable Gran Turismo 7 , hopefully including everything that was left out here.

Gran Turismo Sport review

Let's not forget what's been lost for the series' PlayStation 4 debut, though. There's none of that old scope, and only a fraction of the old madness that made Gran Turismo so endearing.

There's no shortage of top-tier first-party racing games on the Xbox One thanks to the likes of Forza Motorsport 7 and Forza Horizon 3 , but the same can't be said about the PlayStation 4 .

Great looking cars and tracks; Excellent Driving School mode; Superb realistic racing; Challenge mode in single-player campaign

Some single-player content requires you to be online

GT Sport Review

Return of the king?

Constant online rewards; Stunningly beautiful; Handles brilliantly; Daily races keep things flowing

Needs more online "quick race" options; Penalty systems are inconsistent

Gran Turismo Sport Review

In many ways, is the most polished Gran Turismo game in over a decade. It looks great, feels great, and what's here has been carefully and well executed. However, while I can forgive the sprinkling of eccentric nonsense, the lack of car and track content really hurts, and the online-only nature of...
