Chromecast 2 is HERE and, as you'd expect, it is bloody FANTASTIC
Faster; Better Looking Design; Awesome New Chromecast App; Did We Mention It Is A LOT FASTER
It Can't Do Your Tax Return -- That's Literally About It
When I saw the first version of Chromecast it was around the same time as a similar product from Roku, to my mind the latter was a better product at a near similar price. So what will the second version have to offer to change my mind?
It's assumed, however, that all of this is coming to the original Chromecast as well. Beyond the new Wi-Fi channels, which we'll be putting through more extensive testing soon, the technology remains broadly the same, and as the biggest improvements are in the field of search within the app, the...
I purchased a Chromecast 2.0 last week and set about putting it to the test to see what was different from the original product. The answer has been not too terribly much from a user standpoint thus far, but that's not a bad thing.
The new Chromecast app is out already, and as far as we know, all of its new features work with the old Chromecast. That means that – aside from the new design and Wi-Fi – the two Chromecasts are basically the same. Which means existing owners shouldn't rush to upgrade.

Inexpensive; improved design; streams content from Netflix; YouTube; Spotify; HBO Now and other popular apps from your mobile device; 5GHz Wi-Fi compatibility; updated Chromecast app with universal search
Still no interface or dedicated remote (if that bothers you); support for 1080p rather than 4K; requires an Android or iOS device for setup; and can only stream Amazon videos from a PC
Easy setup and works better then the first generation one! No buffering, yeah!!
Easy To Set Up
Ok, confession first. I bought a chromecast mk2 on a whim. It's just 39 euros, I needed a new way to stream Spotify, thinking about streaming Netflix. Ordered the hdmi version because because the added functionality of streaming pictures and or videos appeals to me.
It's an extremely affordable way to turn a "Dumb TV" into a Smart TV. One thing to note is you need a relatively quick network to stream in HD and to stream quickly.
Very easy to setup Streams quickly on a fast network Tons of apps supported
Does get a little bit hot after streaming video for a while; but it doesn't seem to effect performance
