It's one of the most thrilling openings in all of video games. As warrior-turned-deity-killer Kratos, you climb the Titan Gaia, who functions as a colossal, moving level upon which you battle Poseidon, the god of the sea.

The now decade-old God of War franchise is one you'll hear plenty of talk about when it comes to the joining of incredible production values with simple yet excellent gameplay systems. And amazingly, it's one of those few series that remains mostly consistent in its quality.
A God of War game being given a once over for current-gen systems was a foregone conclusion once the remaster trend hit its stride, though the final chapter being the only one making the jump to PS4 instead of the entire trilogy is a strange decision.
Outside these couple of shortcomings, God of War III Remastered is a fun game at its core, which looks great and runs at a smooth and consistent 60fps (with some small hiccups here and there).

Another month, another remastered game has launched on Sony's PlayStation 4. This time around it is one of the PlayStation's marquee franchises hitting the shelves with a shiny new coat of paint: God of War. Specifically, it is God of War III.
Those that weren't blown away by God of War III in 2010 won't find much in this update to change their tune, but fans and newcomers might consider giving it a shot. Frequent re-releases and the lackluster prequel may have brought on some God of War fatigue, but this remaster can be a great reminder...
