Fujinon XF 56mm f/1.2 R

It is an spectacular lens, sharp already wide open. It was my go to portraiture lens - until the 90mm (which is probably one of the best lenses ever made) appeared. Still, the 56mm has a huge advantage - it's light gathering ability with f/1.2 And you can use f/1.2 without problems because contrast...

f/1.2; sharp

Fujinon XF 56mm f/1.2 R APD lens

The XF 56mm f/1.2 R APD lens is a follow-up to the Fujinon XF 56mm f/1.2 R, which was announced in early January 2014. The difference between the new lens (which was announced nine months later) is the apodisation (APD) filter, which is used to smooth away bokeh outlines when wide apertures are...

A must for Fuji-X owners! If I could habe only one lens for my X-series, then this.

One of the best lenses I've ever had; Only my Zeiss FX-lenses are better

Quite huge on a Fuji-X

If you enjoy shooting with fast prime lenses, the Fuji 56mm f/1.2 is an absolute blast. It provides exceptional bokeh and superb sharpness (under the right circumstances), and the control necessary to get the most out of that combo.

FUJIFILM FUJINON XF 56mm f/1.2 R Lens - Brand New review

Fujifilm's 56mm f/1.2 is one of the brightest autofocus lenses out there, but is it worth $1,000?

Fujifilm Fujinon XF 56mm f/1.2 R APD

The Fujifilm Fujinon XF 56mm f/1.2 R APD is a unique portrait lens that uses a special filter to smooth backgrounds, but it carries a hefty premium over the standard version of the lens.

Very sharp; Capable of extremely shallow depth of field; APD filter smooths background blur; Physical aperture control; Minimal distortion

APD filter limits light gathering; Expensive; Omits optical stabilization; Can be slow to focus

Fujifilm Fujinon XF 56mm f/1.2 R APD Review

Fujifilm has been very aggressive in releasing lenses for its fairly young X camera system, and many a portrait photographer jumped on the Fujinon XF 56m f/1.2 R ($999.95) when it came out early last year. So it surprised many when the company announced the XF 56mm f/1.2 R APD ($1,499.95) less than a year later. The APD designation indicates the lens has an apodization filter, which cuts out a bit of light, but smooths backgrounds so images are captured with pleasing bokeh. The filter comes at a hefty premium, so you'll have to think long and hard if it's worth it to you. The APD version of the lens is still excellent, even when shot wide open, but it's tough to justify the premium price, especially when the standard version of the lens is so good in its own right. The prime lens pairs well with most of Fujifilm's mirrorless camera line, including the X-E2 ($649.00 at Amazon) and X-T1 ($649.00 at Amazon) . It measures 2.7 by 2.9 inches (HD), weighs 14.3 ounces, and supports 62mm f...

Fujifilm Fujinon XF 56mm f/1.2 R APD Lens Review

This lens is a fine addition to the X-series lens line up. It is incredibly sharp, whether you're shooting with the aperture wide open, or not. The APD filter, which sets this lens apart from the standard 56mm f/1.2 is a really interesting addition, which truly helps to improve the appearance of out...

Slight loss of light due to APD filter makes the choice of this lens a creative decision over the standard lens

FUJIFILM FUJINON XF 56mm F1.2 R Lens - BRAND NEW review

Like the previous, non-APD 56mm lens, Fujifilm has really knocked it out of the park with another excellent optic for their popular X-mount cameras. Offering excellent, sharp images, with very low distortion, CA and vignetting, plus the "bokehlicious" ƒ/1.2 aperture -- and now with the...

The definitive portrait lens for the X system

"If you're even considering this lens, I can only presume you're after a fast piece of glass this lens delivers in spades. The 56mm f./1.2 provides a practically surreal photographic experience.
