OXCGN's Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze?Review

Back in November, 1994, Rare released a game on the Super Nintendo that changed the image of what we all thought when someone mentioned the name ‘Donkey Kong', which a little game titled ‘Donkey Kong Country'.

+ It's Donkey Kong! Do I really need to give you any other points? (OK; I'll give you a few more…; + Gameplay is fantastic and levels are well designed; + Every little detail about this game just seems so sharp and well done.

- It doesn't stray much from the formula – It's great to have Cranky Kong along for the ride; but it would have been nice to see a few new additions to the franchise; - Some of the bonus rooms are a bit repetitive and kinda boring; would have liked to see a little more variety; - When playing on the...

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze review

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is a challenging, well designed and rewarding platformer. It's the perfect start to 2014 for Wii U fans, and has topped Returns in challenge, design, soundtrack and overall fun. Tropical Freeze is unforgiving at times, but that only makes success even more sweet.

+ Great level design; + Looks great; sounds even better; + Challenging boss battles; + Added characters; + Collectables

- Multiplayer isn't that great; - Inherently can become a little repetitive

Best Donkey Kong Country Game!

Tropical Freeze on Wii U, is probably my favorite DK game. The game is very challenging, and keeps the player hooked! The graphics are stunning, lush, and charming. The music, is composed by the same guy who did the soundtrack for original Donkey Kong Country games.

Game Review: Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is the latest Wii U port to hit the Nintendo Switch and if you missed its initial release in 2014 and are planning on picking it up, then you're in for a treat…perhaps banana themed treats!

Satisfying; yet challenging platforming gameplay; Crisp; colourful visuals; Meaningful supporting characters; Funky Kong Mode is a speed running dream

Difficulty spike late on my surprise some

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Review

If I were Donkey Kong, I'd be f***ing pissed. Back in the 1980s, DK was just a simple construction monkey, trying to save a woman who wandered onto the job site without a hard hat. Some plumber tries to climb up and take credit, and now we're here.

I wanna move to Donkey Kong Country; Bonus levels; worlds; more; DK Gashapon; Off-TV play; Sounds like DKC again; Cranky's cane bounce; Mine-cart and rocket-barrel levels

No GamePad use to speak of; Off-TV play; Cranky's cane bounce

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze Reviewed on Wii U by Michael Damiani. Given the woeful performance of the Wii U to date, Nintendo's struggling console can use all the help it can get.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze

Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze is one of those games that makes you hate it and love it at the same time. Though on the surface it appears to be a fairly simple platformer (due in no small part to its cartoonish graphics), it doesn't take more than a couple levels before you realize that this is...

Excellent visuals; fantastic, varied soundtrack; great level design; simultaneous co-op mode; in-game shop offsets the high difficulty; lots of secrets to find

Difficulty may really surprise some looking for something lighter; camera in co-op mode can be a little loopy at times

Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze

A truly fantastic arcade game that not only plays well (with a few 21st century tweaks) but looks amazing on this next-gen console.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (Wii U)

The Donkey Kong Country games are almost the perfect package for a gamer like me. Their artistic direction is fantastically realised, their soundtracks are some of the greatest pieces ever showcased in a video game and the gameplay is en pointe, balancing perfectly between a feeling of challenge and...
