DJI Osmo Mobile 2 review

DJI has been making handheld gimbals for ages: the Osmo range is quite broad these days. The 'Mobile' version has no camera as the idea is that you use your phone's camera instead. And unlike the expensive original , the Osmo Mobile 2 is much more affordable.

Amazing tool for smartphone video

The DJI Osmo mobile 2 is a fantastic tool that makes a huge difference when stabilizing video footage making it look steady and professional. It takes a while to get used to but once you get the hang of it, the process is quite simple and straightforward.

Can DJI's second generation smartphone gimbal best the original at less than half the price We find out in our full Osmo Mobile 2 review....

Portrait mode is great for social streaming Lighter design makes usage even easier than before Longer battery life and power bank support Tripod mount on the bottom Added video features are creative and fun

Changing orientation requires readjustment; bit of a chore Would have been nice to rotate to portrait WITH the phone mounted DJI's history of inconsistent Android app performance

DJI Osmo Mobile 2

The DJI Osmo Mobile 2 is lighter and cheaper than its predecessor, and despite that it's a way better smartphone camera stabilization gimbal than any other we've tested. It uses AI to track subjects and, with a new portrait mode, it's even ready for the Instagram Stories and Snapchat generation.

Lighter in every way; including price; New portrait-orientation mode; AI-powered subject tracking

You can't flip cameras mid-recording; You have to physically switch orientation; Micro USB port rather than USB-C

Running around the office with the DJI Osmo Mobile 2, I got a lot of questions. Specifically I got exactly two questions repeatedly. The first was about what I was holding. Each time, I explained that the weird selfie stick-like contraption I'd put my phone in was a mechanized gimbal that...

It's crazy cheap and the footage it produces looks lovely

The controls take a LOT of getting used to
