I bought this a a replacement for the original lens that came with the camera. It seeemed to be just as good as the one that it was meant to replace

Great lens I needed a replacement and it' works great
Bought this to replace non Image Stabiliser and fantastic all rounder with crisp, vibrant clear shots with all cameras
The product is flimsy. When trying to focus people/objects most times the right side blurs up. Always the right side
Compact
I bought this lens for my new 70D because of video and found it quite acceptable and very good for the price. It works well on auto focus in video mode.
Canon's new EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens is offered as a cheaper alternative to the EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens which was developed to match the EOS 650D (and which we reviewed in July 2012) .
Canon's new 18-55mm zoom is an attractive proposition thanks to its relatively cheap price and the inclusion of image stabilisation.......
Fantastic value for money
Poor manual-focusing experience
i got this lens with the 500d and i really like it but i do have some problems with it one been that i can not zoom with out it jumping, i mean that it get stuck when zooming slowly. other from that it is a nice lens. i am sending it back a getting a new one so i hope it is better quality
on paper (and in the internet) it's a mechanically sub-par standard zoom with suprisingly great sharpnessin my experience it is different. mechanics are very much OK, nothing to be ashamed of for an inexpensive standard zoom. level of detail on the photos also appears good.
decent level of detail; vivid colours; very appropriate size and weight for a Rebel body; quick and silent AF; very OK mechanically
lack of microcontrast
I've been using this lens for the past one month now and I must say I am pretty happy with it overall. I mostly use it as my travel lens. It has been fairly consistent I've had minimal blurriness although I would say it is not as sharp as my EFS 55/250 when it comes to it's focus.
Consistent Output; Durable; Easily Interchangeable; Lightweight
Slow Focus; Weak Casing
