Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM Telephoto Lens Review
First introduced back in July of 1992, the Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM medium telephoto lens has been the go to lens of portrait photographers for decades. It benefits from the solid build quality coupled with the low price and overall great image quality.

Sharp as all get out
This is a great lens for portrait photography. With f/1.8 you can get a good shallow DOF and good bokeh. It's sharp as a tack and the focusing is fast and accurate. The construction is not up to L lens standards but this isn't an L lens.
Pros:
- Consistent Output
- Durable
- Quick Focus
- Sharp Focus
Cons:
- Weak Casing

No matter what if you are in the back row and your son on the stage at a school play, your picture will be Prefect and it will look like you were in the front row.

Awsome
"I got this lens 3 months ago and since then i has been my go too. I use it mostly when i do automotive photoshoots because of the feel and tone the lens gives too an image. Great depth of field, great subject isolation, great bokeh.

You may not use it every day, but along with the nifty 50 1.8, it's probably one of the best value lens, Canon has to offer, and priced at a fraction the L series match. Great bokeh, fast, and good focus.

Excellent lens but watch out for chroma
This lens is donkeys years old....I've had one since my film days with a Canon EOS620! It's a keeper for sure and at the current price an absolute bargain. I love the handling; it feels just right on my 50D or 760D and the focussing is blisteringly fast and accurate.
Pros:
- Consistent Output
- Durable
- Easily Interchangeable
- Quick Focus
- Rugged
- Sharp Focus
- Strong Construction
Cons:
- Chromatic Aberrations

Great camera lens to an extent
Pros: Not too bulky. Lens functions great. Crisp shots. Cons: When they say 'Portrait' lens they mean it. It really is made for close-up head shot portraits rather than family/group shots. You would have to really distance yourself for group photos with this camera.

Amazing lens!
Great lens, especially for the price! Auto focus speed is fast and accurate. Bokeh is smooth and beautiful! Light weight but sturdy build. If you're thinking about getting this lens, don't delay! It's definitely worth the asking price!
Pros:
- Fast AF
- sharp
- beautiful bokeh
Cons:
- No Hood included
