Brilliant piece of Glass
First kudos to Flipkart shipping. I was simply astounded when the delivery came to my home. Just 2 days from the day of order. Now to the lens. I think its worth every penny. First I had lot of thoughts whether to buy or not , but it is a brilliant lens to shoot. Got the lens Yesterday.

Awesome lens if you can't get the 1.2mm
I bought this lens for portraits. It has been wonderful so far. I think I like it more than my 50mm 1.8. It's a good alternative til I can afford the better L version.
Pros:
- Clean
- sharp pictures!!
Cons:
- Nothing so fat

Great Sharp Lens
I bought this lens for low light work. It has a good reputation for sharpness. It's light, very sharp, focuses well and for portraits gives a nce depth of field. Everything I wanted.

I don't have any cons right now. I felt it was a good investment for the money and it hasn't let me down.
Pros:
- Fast / accurate auto-focus
- Lightweight
- Sharpness
- speed

A hidden gem on the non L lineup
I am very happy with this lens. I shot a party outdoors, dusk, mosquito time. The photos were brilliant and looked bright. Was in full auto and they were mostly wide open, f/2.0 f1.8 Was very impressed with the color at this low light. Using a 5D mk2.
Pros:
- A Real Value
- Lightweight
- Nice Bokeh
Cons:
- Minimum Focus Distance

Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM
I always love how 85mm looks for portraits. This one is my favorite 85 for canon system. I prefer this lens to the heavy & sluggish big brother (f/1.2)-though the 85/1.2 is an exceptional lens. It's fast enough for almost everything. It has the goodness of an 85 lens.
Pros:
- IQ
- build quality
- USM
- price
Cons:
- none

With Canon Portrait lenses, less can be more
An outstanding portrait lens for Canon shooters on a tight budget, or even those who can afford anything. Not as beautiful as the 85/1.2, but smaller, lighter and quicker handling.
Pros:
- Fast f/1.8 maximum aperture
- good bokeh
- sharp from corner to corner
- fast focus
- cheap
Cons:
- Bokeh not as smooth as the pro lenses
- plasticky build

My Main Thang!
My first primes lens was the nifty fifty (50mm 1.8) . I absolutely loved it. My next lenses had to be the 85mm 1.8 lens. I read the reviews and decided to get it. Wow! This lens is so sharp and focuses very accurate and quickly. Now given...
Pros:
- Fast auto-focus
- Superior build quality
- Super-sharp images
