I used to work 50 mm - it is very convenient. I like the artistry and sharp picture on the f1.2. Background - water color, sharpness - the schedule. minus - pulling edges.
Manufacturer: Canon

Good: Solid build. f 1.2 . Best bokeh. Quiet. Bad: Not sharp as other lens. Price. A little heavery.
Wow All this stuff about cameras and lenses needs some clarification, and here is why. I use this 1.2 prime with a Canon 7D camera. I get great results. If you set your focus to manually choose placement/ auto, you can do some cool stuff, like have three people in a row, and focus on one- the one...
Speed low light performance and beautiful colors
heavy and pricey
I bought this lens to use on my Canon 5D2. Feels like a well balanced fit on the camera. Produces sharp images with great background blur. Have had it a week and have no even used the flash with it yet. Expensive - but you get what you pay for....
Build quality; Sharpness; f1.2; low light shooting without flash
Expensive
"When using a narrow DOF setting you have to be careful as you could end up with part of a person face being in focus and part blurry. However that is part of owning a lens like this. Once you get to know just how low an aperture setting you can use - the results will be excellent.
Roughly two-and-a-half years ago Canon replaced the legendary EF 50mm f/1.0L USM with the EF 50mm f/1.2L USM. While its predecessor was the fastest (and one of the most expensive) mass-production lens ever made, by sacrificing two thirds of a stop, Canon was able to reduce the price of the lens...
I'm a professional wedding/portrait photographer and a prime lens shooter. This lens was worth the upgrade from the 1.4. It's quiet and fast! Worth every penny.
Consistent Output; Fast / accurate auto-focus; Nice Bokeh
Heavy
Gary Wolstenholme review the super-bright Canon EF 50mm f/1.2L USM lens.
This lens simply is not sharp at f1.2. I tested using Spydercal, tripod mounted EOS 1DS camera with electronic shutter release at of 1/1000 sec but still not sharp at f1.2. Very sharp at all other apertures but no good at wide open. Defeats the purpose of buying fasdt glass if it cannot be used.
Superior build quality
So far, I am a believer in this lens. It does what I expect it to do wide open, which is deliver dreamy, creamy imagery. Stopped down it is amazingly sharp, colorful and contrasty. It is worth the money in my estimation.
So far; this lens does what I expect it to do; love the bokeh
some CA wide open; price is very high
