I used to work 50 mm - it is very convenient. I like the artistry and sharp picture on the f1.2. Background - water color, sharpness - the schedule. minus - pulling edges.

It's bokeh and overall quality is magical. It is not comparable to the 1.4 as it has more depth and a different look. People constantly try to compare, but this is a different beast!

This is a high-quality lens that definitely deserves the "L" series designation from Canon. Extremely sharp, amazing color, and beautiful bokeh. The only issue I had was that the auto focus was slow and would hunt a lot.

There's no getting away from it.... A 50mm lens is a necessary tool. A standard "Normal" lens for many years, it is great for those times when you don't need the capabilities (and weight) of a zoom lens. This lens is ultra-fast and ultra-sharp! I've been wanting this lens for a very long time.

This is a fantastic lens to use for achieving a very shallow depth of field and a dream like quality to images. It's very easy to photograph something which appears mundane and get an image which is visually very pleasing.

I really wish Amazon would not lump reviews for different products variations in the same listing. The lens I am reviewing is the f/1.2 version...not the f/1.4 or the f/1.8 I have been using this lens for about a year now and it performs like no other lens I have ever owned.

It is definitely an excellent lens. Sometimes I encounter back focus problem and I guess it is because the focus spot is too dark. Other than that, the color is incredibly bright and rich. No post-processing required.

this lens allows you to enter a whole new world of photography, night photography without flash. i have tried both the 24-70L and the 17-55m and felt very limited once the sun starts to set or moving in doors. IQ is stunning, especially the colors.
