Not for me
I really didn't feel this was the lens for me, quite slow to focus and not as good as its 35mm and 50mm counterparts

Mighty Mouse
I can't believe how long it took me to purchase this lens. This review is for full-frame use. I've been rolling my eyes at it ever since it first came out. How can this lens be any good Recently reading various technical reviews raised my eyebrows and quickly changed my opinion of this lens.

Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM review
Canon has launched two new lenses with the EOS 650D / Rebel T4 i DSLR - the EF 40mm f/2.8 STM and the EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM, priced at £229.99 (about $355) and £479.99 (about $740), respectively.

Canon EF40MM F2.8 STM Lens EF4028ST review
It's impressive what Canon has managed to pack into a very small package here. Excellent results for sharpness, CA and distortion, and only some corner shading when used wide open on full-frame - which you could call the "character" of this lens. For the price, it's well worth the money.

Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM Lens Review
The diminutive Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM Pancake Lens immediately inspires the high-pitched talking-to-a-baby voice from its first-time viewers, with short drawn-out words and phrases such as "awwwwe" and "it's sooooo cuuute" being especially common.

Canon EF 40MM F/2.8 STM Lens – 50
Canon's new standard fixed 40mm lens is so slim and light (just under 3cm protruding from camera body to lens cap edge and weighing 130g) it can slip into a gear bag or pocket with little bother.
Pros:
- Versatile
- small and light
- Sharp images
- Silent autofocus in video mode on 650D and 5D Mark III
Cons:
- Auto/manual focus switch a little fiddly
- Quiet autofocus feature only with the above models

Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM review by dugong5pm
this is not the lens for everyone. Some might want faster lens or even the L-brand. For me, this one is a PERFECT lens for street. Optically superb & sleek design. Nobody's gonna be intimidated with this tiny lens. a perfect lens for fullframe sensors. Price is highly acceptable.
Pros:
- sleek
- very light
- SHARP! nice build quality.
Cons:
- none

Pancake lenses have come into some popularity in recent years, and Canon has answered with their own version, the . Some may question the point of a fixed lens that is only f/2.8 these days, but there are plenty of reasons to pick up a lens such as this.
