ASUS ZenWatch

ASUS is one of those companies that surprises us every now and then. For as nondescript as some of its tablets and computers have been, it also comes out with some real gems from time to time. And the ZenWatch definitely is a diamond in the rough.

For years, I've wanted a smartwatch: a device that would blend style with digital convenience. Unfortunately, the first crop of smartwatches have predominantly been bulky pieces of plastic and glass for which adjectives like "elegant" seem disingenuous.

Despite some impressive designs from Motorola, Samsung, LG, and Sony, Asus has delivered a smartwatch that's very much its own; It's a great-looking timepiece that you won't mind wearing, and one that effectively combines digital convenience with personal style

Asus ZenWatch review

The Asus ZenWatch is the first smartwatch from the Taiwanese tech maker to run Android Wear, and it comes with a touch of luxury due to its curved display and leather strap, stepping it up in the looks department in the increasingly crowded Android Wear market. At £199, can it stand out though?

Love love love this watch

This is such a good watch and it has all the bells and whistles too. It is so easy to setup with your android phone. It is light and the watch fave is not as big as you might think yet plenty bug to do what it needs to do. It's bigger than an apple watch and at a fraction if the price too.

Review: Asus ZenWatch

Everyone has a smartwatch, and Asus is no stranger, too, offering a slightly curved display and a whole heap of customisable watch faces. Is this Android Wear at its best, or just more of the same?

Looks and feels a little different to other smart watches; Comfortable; Offers more customisable watch faces than other smart watches; Leather strap is quite nice

Requires an extra app "Asus ZenManager" to work; Crashes fairly frequently; and usually when Bluetooth is used for something else; Screen doesn't always respond when you wave your hand or bring it back from standby; Only one day of battery life

Asus ZenWatch review: Android Wear made elegant

Large, complicated and unnecessary are the first adjectives that jumped to mind when opening the packaging of this device, and so I immediately plunged into despair thinking that the ZenWatch would be bulky and unwieldy.

Elegant design; Flawless assembly; ZenWatch Manager app

Price still seems high; even at $200; Android Wear with ZenUI still unstable

Asus ZenWatch

The Asus ZenWatch is the company's first foray into smartwatches, and is another to use Google's Android Wear platform. The ZenWatch stakes a strong claim for being the most stylish smartwatch currently available, and if you're prepared to live with the quirks of Android Wear, it's definitely one of...

One of the best-looking smartwatches so far; Slim; premium build; Battery life among the best for Android Wear

Android Wear still poorly optimised; Lack of buttons hampers use; Screen unreadable in bright sunlight

One of them in particular, Asus, is hoping to entice consumers with its attractive ZenWatch - one of the latest entrants in the Android Wear space. Adorned with a $199 cost, it’s undoubtedly one of the more competitively priced models that are available right now, but does it have enough goodies to really differentiate itself from the motley crew we’re exposed to already? The package contains:Wall chargermicroUSB cableCharging cradleUser manualWarranty cardDesignAsus isn’t a stranger to meticulous designs - they’ve taken great pride in really being attentive when crafting its products. With that in mind, it’s not all that surprising to find the Asus ZenWatch is receiving that same level of premium craftsmanship we see in some of it...
