Good, not great.

Assassin's Creed Unity sees the franchise return to its original form of land based high detailed city exploration. Having been a huge fan of the entire Assassin's library i was super excited for Unity and for the most part i was not disappointed, Fans of the series probably know you're not going to...

Assassin's Creed Unity

Although Assassin's Creed Black Flag was the first of the Assassin's Creed saga to arrive on the next batch of next-gen consoles (e.g. PS4 and XBox One ), it also boasted one of the best stories to date, however it did suffer from some graphical issues.

Assassin's Creed Unity Review

It only feels like yesterday since I was gallivanting around the ocean seas in Assassin's Creed Black Flag. Even though I was strict on tackling the main story missions, I still to this day I haven't found the time to completed it.
Pros:
  • Co-op missions breathe new life into the franchise
  • Character customisation and a good variety of weapons change the style of combat
  • A dense and vibrantly created city of Paris
Cons:
  • Game-breaking glitches at launch (slowly being fixed with updates
  • Not a significant next-gen improvement to the franchise
  • Multiple management of Sync Points
  • Creed Points
  • Helix and Francs over complicate things

Assassin's Creed: Unity

Assassin's Creed: Unity does have its moments though any goodwill is ruined by a complete breakdown from the promised online functionality. In fairness, about 95% of the game can be played without having to connect with other players, though Ubisoft deserves to be taken to task for not ensuring the...

Assassin's Creed Unity

After the rocky launches this month, Ubisoft may want to reconsider releasing so many triple-A games within weeks of another in the future. Assassin's Creed Unity seems to have some of the worst problems, with crazy glitches that cause faces to disappear, NPCs and Arno to fall through objects, the...
Pros:
  • Huge improvements to the free running mechanic
  • co-op missions
  • well-woven story
  • and massive open world with fun and creative side quests make this the best Assassin's Creed game to date
Cons:
  • The bugs mar what could be a near flawless experience
  • but everything Abstergo
  • the leveling system
  • and the four currencies prevented perfection anyway

Great, and not so great

I was really looking forward to this game. The trailers made the storyline look so complex and engaging, and the graphics looked gorgeous.
Pros:
  • beautiful setting
  • controls are smoother
  • awesome on ps4
  • so much to do- get your money's worth
Cons:
  • glitches
  • graphics look choppy
  • story could've been more intense

Assassin's Creed: Unity is a Very Unpolished Gem

Editor's Note: Assassins Creed: Unity was reviewed on the PlayStation 4 platform and all the bugs for this review are specific to that console. GiN waited a full week before running the review, hopeful that a patch would fix many of the bugs, glitches and errors.

Assassin's Creed: Unity PS4 Review

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag was a welcome new direction, adding an enjoyable pirate flavour to the familiar framework of Ubisoft's historically rich open world series. Freely sailing the Caribbean was a real revelation for the series, and it was so enjoyable that it was always going to be missed...

Assassin's Creed Unity review: Two steps back

While it will likely suffice for Assassin's Creed core fans, Unity stumbles throughout and never really finds its footing. Where last year's Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag saw the franchise reach new heights, Unity is somewhat of a sidestep that only shines sporadically.
Pros:
  • Assassin's Creed Unity features breathtaking environments and occasional scenes of great heightened action.
Cons:
  • The game suffers from clunky free-running movement
  • Climbing and descending aren't as seamless as they are intended to be
  • Unity suffers from terrible frame rate dips and other graphical weirdness.
