ARMS (Nintendo Switch) Review

With slick and in-depth motion-controls, a unique roster of characters and an intense brand of competitive multiplayer mayhem, the spiritual successor to Punch-Out!! - ARMS - looks to come out swinging on Switch.

ARMS lacks legs - ARMS review

It's easy to draw comparisons between ARMS and Splatoon, Nintendo's paintball shoot-‘em-up that debuted on Wii U in 2015. Both games represent major new first-party IPs – a rarity for Nintendo – featuring stylized visuals and gameplay that usurps their respective genre norms.

Basic mechanics are easy to learn; Fun suite of multiplayer options; V-Ball and Hoops

Motion controls just aren't precise enough; Characters seem cool; but lack backstory; dialogue; and personality; Fighter and Arm selection needs more detail

ARMS

I am torn concerning ARMS on the Nintendo Switch. There are things I like about this game, and there are things I absolutely despise. I am very thankful Family Friendly Gaming purchased this fighting game after the failures of the PR and Marketing firm working for Nintendo.

ARMS - Nintendo Switch Review

‘Arms' brings back the fun of the Nintendo Wii, but it's most fun if you don't take it too seriously.

Surprising depth; nuance and strategy; Motion controls are a lot of fun; Good variety of modes keeps things interesting; Tons of unlockable Arms will keep completionists busy

Controls aren't precise enough for fast fights; AI takes advantage of control scheme issues; No remappable buttons

Arms is a strange, endearing little game. Emphasis on the little. It's the newest game from Nintendo, a sorta marquee title for the Nintendo Switch. Already heralded as "the Splatoon for fighting games," there's a lot riding on the game. And surprisingly, many, many ways to play it.

Arms is one of Nintendo's new franchises in years and it works well, and Nintendo keeps pushing out content updates that keep improving the game with stages, characters and arms. this game's VS mode on the same screen is fun time as it is playable in table top and on the TV.

Arms (Switch) Review

Arms is a fantastically unique fighting game, without the pieces that make fighting games unapproachable for new players. A colorful style and wicked character designs push the wacky ideas to their limits, and all of it comes together for a proper package.

Something in between

Arms is an excellent spin on the fighting genre by Nintendo that suffers from control issues and a lack of single player

It was no surprise that the Nintendo Switch got first-party titles from popular franchises such as Mario and Zelda , but few would have predicted Arms, a new fighting game revealed at the Switch launch . Arms pits fighters with extendable arms (hence the name) against each other in an arena.
